For three years running, Disneyland Entertainment produced a
special 3 day weekend performance at the Hollywood Bowl. The
events would be a Broadway version of Disney's greatest moments
performed under the stars. The picture above is only of the
support staff along with Haley Mills the guest star that year in the
upper middle.
In all about 500 performers along with 2 dozen professional
dancers and 8 professional singers made up the cast. Of course
the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra provided the music for all of the
Disney theme songs and show tunes through out the 3 hour
performance.
Just about every magical moment from all the Disney classic films
were presented to the sold out audiences. The Disney
Characters combined with live horses and Crystal Coaches and special
effects made for a show never seen on Broadway and could only be
done on the massive stage of the Hollywood Bowl.
My team provided the trucking support to transport every possible
fixture, prop, parade float, costume or technical gear required for
the show. We also supported all back stage movements for the
show as props and sets were brought in and out as well as any
repairs or modifications that might have been required. All
remote productions like this are very similar to a large Disney
parade. Large amounts of people, gear and equipment have to be
moved, stored and maintained to bring about a live event via precise
logistics planning and being prepared to handle any change or
disaster.
We also planned and packed with us tents, trailers, ground cover,
soft drinks and refreshments, lighting, sound gear, and any possible
combination of item to support the show as well as 4 days of onsite
rehearsals.
It's one of the best show ever done that could have merited a
Disney television special.
