The Original Fulltime Employees in 1984

This is a photo that I took of the fulltime staff of the Show Services Department that I worked in from 1978 thru 1993. During the summers and holiday seasons, the department headcount would grow and grow. I would come to run the department as the employee roster would grow to over 174 permanent people.

For many years I managed the interviewing, testing, and training all new employees for the department. Each year I would hire 15 to 30 new employees to staff the summer and Christmas parades. I also managed to schedule those 174 people on a daily basis for about a dozen different production operations going on daily as one of my many hats of responsibilities.

The Disney environment that we were all involved with for so many years, producing some of the largest and most elaborate shows and events, propelled a number of the people in this picture to become the world's leading producers of large scale public events like the Olympics and the World Cup Soccer Tournaments. I guess would have to count myself in that select group of people as one of the nation's leading event logistics experts.
